SI withdrawn for ‘assaulting’ woman in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: A sub-inspector (SI) of Sitakunda Police Station was withdrawn allegedly for torturing the wife of an accused and looting valuables from her residence during a drive.

SI Mahbub Morshed was attached with the Chattogram district Police Lines after withdrawing from the police station, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Sitakunda Circle) Ashraful Karim.

 Sources said Khaleda Akter, wife of Nurul Islam, in a written complaint to the Superintendent of Police (SP) alleged that one of their neighbours filed a case against her husband over a land dispute.

  SI Mahbub, two constables and their informant Nuruzzaman went to her residence at Bhaterkhil of Muradpur union under the upazila to arrest her husband on Saturday.

 They allegedly tortured her after not getting Nurul at the residence and looted Tk 1.42 lakh, gold ornaments, two mobile phones and educational  and birth certificates of their three children at that time, alleged Khaleda.
