Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSIT) launched distribution of halal certificates for products.
Director General of the BSTI Dr Nazrul Anwar formally inaugurated the certificate distribution ceremony on Monday, said a press release.
Bangladesh adopted three international standard systems to issue such certificates.
Certificates were given on nine products following the process appropriately, the BSTI said.
It said the initiative was taken to accelerate the export of local products.
The representatives from Ministry of Commerce, Export Promotion Bureau, Department of Livestock Services, Department of Agricultural Extension, Department of Fisheries, Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, FBCCI, BCI, DCCI, Consumers Association of Bangladesh, Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, Department of Pharmacy Department and Department Islamic Studies at University of Dhaka, Madrasa-E-Alia and Qawmi madrasas are involved in the halal certification of products.
