The Six-time Ban-gladesh Premier League champions Dhaka Abahani’s qualifying play-offs (preliminary round 2) match of AFC Cup 2022 against Club Valencia becomes uncertain as the Maldivian side didn’t board the flight when this report was written.

The team was expected to arrive in Dhaka Sunday night to play the match on Tuesday at the Sylhet District Stadium.

Abahani's team manager Satyajit Das Rupu told The Daily Sun that they are confused with the news, though they hadn’t got any official statement yet.

“We’ve firstly heard from an unofficial source that they (Valencia) are facing some financial issues, so they might not come. But one of the club officials just informed me over the phone that they are coming via a connected flight,” he said.

“It is really confusing for us. We’ve not got any official statement yet. AFC match commissioner, who is in Sylhet now, hasn't also informed us anything. This evening he talked to us about tomorrow’s managers meeting. We will do everything as per the schedule until any official decision,” he added.

As per the AFC rules, If the Maldivian team pulled out their participation, Abahani will get a walkover and will advance to the next stage South Asia Zone play-off round where they will meet another qualifying play-offs (preliminary round 2) winners between the Indian club ATK Mohun Bagan FC and Sri Lanka club Blue Star on April 19.
