Mohammedan outplay Rahamatganj

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd outplayed Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society by 5-1 goals in a goal fest match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League football, powered by Bashundhara Group at the Sylhet District Stadium on Friday.

Mohammedan’s Malian forward Souleymane Diabate scored twice in the 33rd and 51st minutes of the game while midfielder Farhad Mona, Australian defender Aaron John Reardon and midfielder Jafar Iqbal added one goal each in the 42nd, 49th and 70th minutes.

Rahamatganj’s Ghanian forward Philip Adjah netted the consolation goal in the (45+2 minute) for his side.  After the day’s victory, Mohammedan earned 17 points from four wins, five draws and two defeats while Rahamatganj remained the same with their previous credit of 9 points from two wins, three draws and six defeats.

In the day’s other matches, Chattogram Abahoni Ltd defeated Bangladesh Police Football Club by 2-1 goals coming from 0-1 goal behind at the Muktijoddha Smrity Stadium in Rajshahi.

Nigerian duo Ebimobowei Thankgod from the penalty and Kehinde Yisa Anifowoshe scored one goal each for Ctg Abahoni in the 84th and 86th minutes after forward Mohammad Al Amin handed an early lead to Police FC in the 2nd minute of the game.

Saif Sporting Club were held to a 3-3 goals draw by Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj.   Japanese captain Tetsuaki Misawa opened an account in the 9th while forward Aminur Rahman Sajib scored twice in the 27th and 35th minutes to give Muktijoddha a 3-0 lead but Saif’s Sazzad Hossain, defender Riyadul Hasan Rafi and Nigerian forward Mfon Udoh levelled the margin 3-3 scoring one each in the 21st, 31th and 63rd minutes.

Meanwhile, the first leg of the ongoing BPL will come to an end when the former champions Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd will host the newcomers Swadhinata Krira Sangha in their home venue today (Saturday) at the Bashundhara Kings Arena of Bashundhara Sports Complex at 3:30pm.

Sheikh Russel are facing tough situations in the league as they played two back-to-back draws in their previous two matches after suffering five consecutive defeats.  The club tasted only one win and are currently at the 10th position with a total of 7 points, only one point ahead of the lowly Swadhinata KS, who have 6 points from one win, three draws and six defeats.
