Hasan pledges to revive golden days of film industry

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday said the film industry started its journey in 1957 with the patronisation of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced it as an industry undertaking many steps, reports BSS.

“The good old days of films are back and the industry is turning around. The film industry will get back its golden days and capture a dignified position in the global screenland,” he said.

The minister told the reporters before addressing a meeting of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust (BJWT) this afternoon at the meeting room of his ministry at Secretariat in the capital.

Hasan said the government has formed a fund of Taka one crore to provide loan with low interest to construct and renovate halls, and for the welfare trust for film artists and film city.

The FDC (Films Development Corporation) is celebrating the Film Day through a simple function for the holy Ramadan, he added.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Md Mokbul Hossain, BJWT managing director Subhash Chanda Badal, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) president Omar Faruque, secretary general Dip Azad, Press Institute of Bangladesh director general Zafar Wazed, and trust members were present at the meeting.
