At least four people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a dumpster truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Kutupalong Transit Camp in Ukhia Rajapalang Union of Cox's Bazar on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Amin, 25, son of Babul, Jihan, 22, son of Nur Alam, Nurul Islam, 26, son of Sayed Alam, and Sonaton Shorma, 23.
Ukhiya's Shahpori highway police in-charge Shefayet Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said a Teknaf-bound dumpster truck carrying sand collided head-on with a Ukhia-bound auto- rickshaw at around 10 pm, leaving four people dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies.
Meanwhile, a youth died after being hit by a cement mixer in the capital's Malibagh area.
Asif, 24, who was riding a bicycle, was hit by a cement mixer at midnight on Tuesday. The victim hailed from Durgapur upazila of Brahmanbaria.
Pedestrians rescued the youth and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where died at on Tuesday morning. Police seized vehicle and arrested its helper but its drive managed to flee.
