Over 20m vaccine doses administered in Rangpur

Corona recovery rate reaches 97pc

RANGPUR: A total of 2,32,07,506 doses of Covid-19 jabs were administered in Rangpur division until Friday while the pandemic situation has been improving for the last one month, reports BSS.

Health officials said the Covid-19 vaccination campaign continues smoothly through inoculation of eligible citizens with the first, second and third doses of Covid-19 jabs in all eight districts of the division.

Citizens are being vaccinated with five types of Covid-19 jabs from different companies like Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinovac across the division.

"Till Friday, a total of 1,33,30,451 people got the first dose of Covid-

19 jabs, and of them, 93,29,759 got the second dose and 5,47,296 got the booster dose," Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam told BSS on Saturday.

The first dose recipient 1,33,30,451 citizens include 39,29,846 vaccinated with AstraZeneca Covid-19 jabs, 19,75,361 with Pfizer Covid-19 jabs, 52,21,201 people with Sinopharm Covid-19 jabs, 1,31,876 with Moderna Covid-19 jabs and 20,72,460 with Sinovac Covid-19 jabs.

The second dose recipient 93,29,759 citizens include 26,29,044 people inoculated with AstraZeneca Covid-19 jabs, 16,01,867 with Pfizer Covid-19 jabs, 49,37,465 with Sinopharm Covid-19 jabs, 1,27,554 with Moderna Covid-19 jabs and 34,003 with Sinovac Covid-19 jabs.

"Besides, the 5,47,296 booster dose recipients include 5,14,314 vaccinated with AstraZeneca Covid-19 jabs, 29,892 with Pfizer Covid-19 jabs and 3,090 with Moderna Covid-19 jabs," Dr. Islam added. 

However, the average rate of recovery from Covid-19 has reached 97.67 percent in Rangpur division while the pandemic situation has been continuing to improve for more than one month.

"Some 35 more patients recovered on Friday raising the number of healed patients to 62,622 with the 97.67 percent recovery rate, the highest recovery rate since the outbreak of the pandemic," Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam told BSS on Saturday. 

Earlier, the previous highest average recovery rate was 97.12 percent recorded on January 14 last in the division.

The 62,622 recovered patients include 14,550 of Rangpur, 4,325 of

Panchagarh, 4,277 of Nilphamari, 3,201 of Lalmonirhat, 4,880 of Kurigram, 8,316 of Thakurgaon, 16,535 of Dinajpur and 5,438 of Gaibandha districts in the division.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 64,117 as only one new patient was diagnosed after testing 79 new samples at the 1.27 percent positivity rate on Friday.

"The district-wise break up of total 64,117 patients include 14,956 of

Rangpur, 4,416 Panchagarh, 5,475 of Nilphamari, 3,281 of Lalmonirhat, 4,981 of Kurigram, 8,582 of Thakurgaon, 16,918 of Dinajpur and 5,508 of Gaibandha in the division," he added.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 3,40,894 collected samples were tested till Friday, and of them, 64,117 were found positive with an average positivity rate of 18.81 percent in the division.

On the other hand, the total number of casualties remained steady at 1,283 in the division as no new death was reported during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am on Saturday.

The district-wise break up of the 1,283 fatalities stands at 300 in Rangpur, 84 in Panchagarh, 92 in Nilphamari, 74 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in Kurigram, 259 in Thakurgaon, 340 in Dinajpur and 65 in Gaibandha districts of the division.

The average casualty rate currently stands at two percent.

Among total 64,117 Covid-19 patients, 21 are undergoing treatments, including four patients at ICU and five at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 62,622 patients and 1,283 deaths while 191 are remaining in home isolation.

"Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 1,33,30,451 and among them, 93,29,759 got the second dose and 5,47,296 got the booster dose of the jabs till Friday in the division," Dr Islam added.
