IITM to provide scholarship for varsity teachers

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has expressed interest to provide scholarship for public university teachers of Bangladesh for higher degree.

A three-member delegation of IITM came up with the offer at a view exchange meeting with the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Tuesday.

The meeting also discussed other areas of joint collaboration with Bangladeshi universities, including conducting joint research, faculty exchange, patenting innovation, setting up of IITM's satellite campus in Bangladesh.  

UGC Chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah presided over the programme while UGC members Prof Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Md Sazzad Hossain, Prof Muhammad Alamgir, Prof Biswajit Chande, and Prof Md Abu Taher took part at the event.

Besides, the IITM’s global engagement officer Katrik Ramon, advisor to the global engagement office Sachin S Gunthe, and Liaison Officer Ruthramoorthy Senthamaraikannan were also present.
