The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police arrested three ‘fraudsters’ from Khilgaon in the capital on Sunday for swindling money from job seekers in the name of providing them with bank jobs.

The arrestees are Dewan ASM Rezaur Rahman, 52, Mohammad Shajahan, 42 and Kazi Wahidul Hossain Bappi, 45.

Mohammad Kamruzzaman, special superintendent (Dhaka Metro South) of the CID, told the Daily Sun on Monday.

The cheats swindled Tk 12.4 lakh from three job seekers -- Masud Alam, Mohammad Insan and Mofizur Rahman -- alluring them of giving jobs at Sonali Bank, he said.

Meanwhile, the cheats also took the interview of the job aspirants and issued appointment letters.

When the youths went to Sonali Bank head office to join the job in December 2020, they found that their appointment letters were forged, said the officer.

The bank officers also informed that 10 to 15 job seekers came to the back with such fake appointment letters.

After receiving complaint from Masud, the CID arrested the trio, he added.
