9 more die, 1,951 cases detected

The country’s coronavirus situation has been improving day by day as the daily number of coronavirus infection cases has remained below 2,000 for two days in a row.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 9 more Covid-19 patients died while 1,951 were infected with the respiratory virus in the last 24 hours until Monday morning.

Of the deaths, Chattogram division reported the highest number of 6 deaths followed by 3 in Dhaka. Of them, 5 were male and 4 were female.

A total of 28,097 samples were tested while the infection rate was 6.94 percent. It was 7.82 percent on Sunday, 8.71 percent on Saturday and 9.31 percent on Friday.

As many as 8,674 patients recovered during the period taking the total number of recoveries to 17,63,258. The total recovery rate is now 91.11 percent.

The number of total infection has risen to 19,35,242 with overall positivity rate of 14.62 percent.

On the other hand, the total death toll has increased to 28,974 with a fatality rate of 1.50 percent.

The country's maiden case was reported on 8 March in 2020 and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March of the same year.
