Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has alleged that Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) wrote letters to various US departments asking them not to provide assistance to Bangladesh.
“BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wrote letters to various US departments and their lawmakers asking them not to provide assistance to Bangladesh or re-evaluate the issue,” he said.
Terming Mirza Fakhrul and BNP an anti-state force, Hasan posed a question that how a party leader wrote letters to various US departments to stop assistance or re-evaluation?
“They are dreaming to run the country again! Actually they are conspiring against the country. When a person writes a letter to a foreigner against his own country to stop assistance, he must be a traitor, an anti-national person,” he said.
Mentioning that BNP or any other party is not an alternative of Awami League, Hasan said Awami League is the only alternative of the Awami League and the results of the Union Parishad elections have proved it again.
“Where the Awami League has won the ongoing UP elections, the party’s rebel candidate has become the second. This proves, Awami League is the alternative of Awami League,” he said.
