U-19 head coach Nawaz uncertain after World Cup

Bangladesh U-19 head coach Naveed Nawaz might not continue after the end of the ongoing ICC U-19 World Cup in West Indies, a Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Wednesday.

“He informed us that he got an offer from the Sri Lanka Cricket. We told him that we would sit with him after the ICC U-19 World Cup,” BCB Game Development Chairman Khaled Mahmud said.

“He (Nawaz) can always leave if he gets a better offer but at the same time we can also change his payment package so that he doesn’t leave us,” he added.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board earlier extended Nawaz’s contract following the junior Tigers U-19 World Cup triumph campaign in South Africa in 2020.

The current batch of the junior Tigers has already reached the super league quarterfinals in the ongoing edition of the tournament under Nawaz’s guidance and they will take on India in the knockout tie on Saturday in Antigua.
