BARISHAL: A female student of Government Brojmohun College in Barishal on Monday lodged a complaint at a police station and to college authority against a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist for beating and threatening her.

The incident occurred around Sunday evening in front of the main gate of the BM College, according to the girl who is a second year student of the college.

The female student said she had been frequently eve-teased by the accused BCL activist Nujaim Islam Shawon, a student of Syed Hatem Ali College after refusing his proposal for a romantic relationship a year ago.

He often used to threaten her acquaintances in this regard, the girl said.

On Sunday, Nujaim obstructed her in front of the college and beat her up and at one point the girl’s cell phone broke, falling from her hand, she said in her complaint.

Accused Nujaim threatened that if she disclosed about this assault to anyone his associate Sagor, another BM college student will not let her enter the college in future.

“We have received a complaint against Nujaim and Sagor over the incident on Monday afternoon,” said Azimul Karim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali model police station.

The investigation is on and the accused will soon be brought under law, he said.

Dr Mommad Golam Kibria, principal of BM College said they have received a written complaint from the student.

“A three-member probe body has been formed to look into the matter. Action will be taken immediately after receiving the report,” he said.
