Topu undergoes successful surgery

Bangladesh national football team defender and also the Bashundhara Kings captain Topu Barman underwent successful surgery on the torn anterior cruciate ligament at a hospital in Mumbai, India on Monday.

“Doctor said that the surgery was successful, everything was all right. I also feel good. But I need to stay under observation. I don’t know when they will discharge me,” Topu told The Daily Sun over the phone after the surgery.

Director of Sports Orthopedics and Head of Centre for Sports Medicine (Arthroscopy) in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala conducted the 3.5 hours surgery.

Bashundhara Kings bore all expenses of the surgery. The club’s physio Abu Sufian Sarker currently is staying with Topu to provide him all support there.

Thanking fans and Bashundhara Kings, Topu wrote on his Facebook page: “I am a warrior who will fight through this. ACL surgery was done successfully by the experienced doctors at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Thanks for all the prayers and love guys. Now I will need those more. keep praying for me Thanks to my club Bashundhara Kings for staying beside me in this hard period.”

However, Topu will be out of the field for at least seven or eight months. He will be out of the service during the upcoming schedules.
