Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman are among 49 players who have enrolled their base price at the maximum of INR two crore for the 2022 mega Indian Premier League auction, scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.

Apart from Shakib and Mustafizur, seven other Bangladeshi cricketers also completed their registration in different brackets for the auction of the 15th edition of the T20 tournament.

Shakib previously represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad while Mustafizur played for Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals franchises in the IPL.

Meanwhile, a total of 1214 players (896 Indian and 318 overseas players) signed up to be part of the IPL 2022 player auction.

Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Joe Root, Chris Gayle and Mitchell Starc are the notable absentees on the list as they have decided to skip this year’s tournament.

India’s opening batter KL Rahul will captain Lucknow after he was signed as the joint-highest-paid player, for 170 million rupees ($2.3 million), in the history of the tournament.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was signed for the same amount in 2018 by the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise.

A final trimmed list will be prepared by the IPL governing council closer to the two-day auction once the franchises send back their wishlists.

Each of the 10 teams can pick a maximum of 25 players in their squad while a total of 33 players have already been retained or picked ahead of the player auction.
