Man stabbed to death in city

A man was stabbed to death at Rayer Bazar in the capital’s Mohammadpur area early on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Amir Hossain, 28, a resident of Shaheed Nagar at Rayer Bazar.

The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy, said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost.

Quoting locals, police said that Mohammad Kabir and Humayun stabbed Amir on Aziz Khan Road area, leaving him seriously injured around 1:15am.  He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, said police.

Police said that they killed him over previous enmity.

Milon, friend of the victim, said that Kabir, Humayun and Amir were locked in an argument over drugs sale about five to six months ago.

Early on Saturday, the duo and some others attacked him and at one point, they stabbed him with sharp weapons.

Shafikul Islam, sub-inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station, said that Kabir, Humayun and others killed him.

He said Kabir and Humayun sold flowers at Central Shaheed Minar and Shahbagh areas and sold illegal drugs in Mohammadpur area, he said.
