Seven people were killed in separate road accidents in three districts on Friday.

Three members of a family were killed and two others critically injured in a collision between a bus and an auto-rickshaw at Matuail in the capital on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman (65), his daughter Sharmin Begum (38) and her husband Md. Reazul Islam (48).

The doctor on duty declared them dead after they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

CNG driver Abdur Rafiq, 50, and Sharmin's five-year-old daughter Shakira were also injured in the incident.

Jatrabari Police Sub-inspector (SI) Biswajit Sarkar confirmed the news.

"We rescued them from the scene after receiving the news. The injured were rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. The accident took place around 8:15 am.” he said.

The victims came to Dhaka by a launch from Barisal on Friday morning. They were going to Matuail Child and Maternal Health Institute by the CNG.

 The bodies were kept in the morgue for autopsy.

“A bus of ‘St Martin Paribahan’ hit the auto-rickshaw while taking a turn in front of the Matuail Matri Sadan Hospital,” said OC Majharul Islam of Jatrabari Police Station.

The victims arrived in Dhaka from Barisal in the morning. They were on their way to Matuail from the Sadar Ghat, according to victim Abdur Rahman’s son Tanvir Ahmed.

“My father and sister along with her husband and daughter came from Barisal this morning. They were on their way to my home from Sadar Ghat and suddenly the accident took place.”  In another incident in Naogaon, two people were killed when a tractor hit them in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Bulbuli Khatun, 42, and Faruk Hossain, 60.

The incident took place on the Sapahar-Patnitala road at around 8:30am, said Patnitala Police Station OC Shamsul Alam Shah.

The two were on their way to a local market when their rickshaw van broke down in the middle of the road and the sand-laden tractor ran them over, killing Bulbuli on the spot, the OC said.

Another Faruk died when he was taken to Patnitala upazila complex.

Their bodies were later taken to the Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

In Kushtia , two people were killed in separate road accidents.

The deceased were identified as Mohsin Hossain, 35, a cigarette factory worker and son of late Khatibur Rahman of Satbaria area in Bheramara upazila and Siam, 18, son of Daud of Chok Dhuboik village of the same area, reports UNB.

On Friday morning, Siam was seriously injured after his motorcycle was hit by a truck in Hawakhali field area of Dhubail union in Mirpur upazila.

According to locals, he died on the way to Kushtia Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station Golam Mostafa confirmed the news of death.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night another accident occurred at Allahdarga on Daulatpur-Bheramara road as a motorcycle was hit by a truck. The injured motorcyclist died on the way to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-charge (OC) SM Jabid Hasan of Daulatpur Police said the body was recovered and sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
