Police rescued an abducted victim and nabbed three alleged kidnappers from Ashulia on the outskirts of the capital early on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Maksudul Haque, 21, who was receiving training in Singapore Training Centre in the area to go to Singapore.
Harun-Ar-Rashid, sub-inspector (SI) of Ashulia Police Station, said on Wednesday night Maksudul he was waiting in front of Senashopping Complex for a bus to get to the training centre.
But suddenly, an ‘easy bike’ carrying the ‘criminals’ hit him, leaving him injured, said the officer. Later, they picked him up in their vehicle in the name of rushing him to hospital, but they took him to Matrichhaya School at Kurgaon instead and physically abused him there, according to the officer.
They took away Tk 1,500 and a mobile phone set from the victim and later demanded Tk 20,000 from his family members after contacting them over phone. The victim’s sister sent Tk 4,500 by bKash.
