A mad race between two buses to overtake each other claimed the life of a teenage boy in the capital’s Moghbazar area on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Rakib, 14.
Rakib was crossing the interception at that time. When the buses in mad rush reached the intersection, the teen was caught in between the vehicles that pressed him at around 5:00pm, leaving him critically injured.
Commuters rushed the teen to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures at around 6:00pm.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said that the body was kept at the hospital morgue.
Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station, said that they seized the buses but drivers and other staffers managed to flee the scene.
