People were at the core of Bangabandhu's politics: Harun

Upholding the Bengalis’ unique national identity, establishing an independent nation for them and putting smile on the face of poor wretched people were at the heart of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s political philosophy, said former National University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Harun-ur-Rashid.

Prof Harun-ur-Rashid, who is currently serving as the Bangabandhu Professorial Fellow and Bangladesh Chair Professor at South Asia Institute (SAI) of Germany’s Heidelberg University, made this remark on Thursday while delivering a keynote speech on ‘Bangabandhu’s State Philosophy and Political Philosophy’ at the institute.

Bangladesh's ambassador to Germany Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, South Asia Institute Prof Rahul Mukherjee and the institute’s Director Prof Dr Hans Hader were present, among others, on the occasion.

As the key speaker, Prof Harun-ur-Rashid highlighted various aspects of Bangabandhu’s political life, his life-long struggle, sacrifices and achievements before the audience.
