The cold wave may go away over the country within a couple of days due to the dry weather and cloudy sky.

“A mild cold wave is sweeping over Naogaon, Dinajpur and Panchagarh districts on Tuesday. It is likely to reduce,” said Abdul Hamid, meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

“The temperature is maintaining rising trend. There is a chance of rain in the country by two or three days,” he said.

The temperature may fall after the rain, but there is no chance of severe cold wave in the country during January, he added.

Cold wave was sweeping over Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Kurigram, Chuadanga and Maulvibazar districts on Monday while there was an increase in temperature in three districts on Tuesday, he said.

Bangladesh Weather Observation Team said there is a chance of rain in the country after January 20 while the rain belt may be active on January 23 and 24.

Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country during midnight to morning, forecast the met office on Tuesday.

“Weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky over the country. Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country,” it said.

The lowest temperature of the country was recorded 9.8 degree Celsius in Tetulia on Tuesday while the temperature of Dhaka city was 14.4 degree Celsius.
