Education Minister Dipu Moni on Sunday said the government is yet to take any decision to close educational institutions once again due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We will have to tackle coronavirus maintaining health protocols properly. However, if necessary, the decision on shutting down the educational institutions will be taken,” she said.

Dipu Moni came up with the remark while briefing journalists at Public Administration Training Centre in Savar.

She said students from all educational institutions, government and non-government, will receive Covid-19 vaccine showing their identification cards and no student can be excluded.

However, the government has no plan so far to administer vaccines to students aged below 12 and the decision depends on the directives of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Meanwhile, speaking at another programme, Education Minister Dipu Moni also said there has been no decision to close the school for right now despite the outbreak of a new type of coronavirus.

Dipu Moni came up with the remark while addressing the event arranged by National Youth Career Carnival at Krishibid Institution in the capital’s Farmgate.

She said, “We hold regular meetings with the National Advisory Committee on COVID and are monitoring the situation. So far we have decided that we want to face the crisis by keeping our lives as normal as possible.”
