Lyricist and composer F H Sarkar Swapnil, popularly known as Swapnil, passed away at the National Heart Institute in the capital on Saturday. He breathed his last around 11pm after a heart attack. He was 53.

Swapnil had been at his sister’s house in Jatrabari for the last one month. On Saturday evening he suddenly fell ill.

He was first taken to Islamia Hospital, Holy Family and National Heart Foundation Hospital. Later’ he was admitted to the National Heart Institute. But, shortly after he died. According to the doctors, Swapnil suffered from a massive heart attack.

Hailed from Cumilla, Swapnil grew up in Chattogram. He moved to Dhaka in 1988-89. He has written songs for popular singers including Bappa Mazumder, Sandipan Das, Haimanti Rakshit Das and Nodi. He also composed music. He came into the limelight with his lyrics and composition of Sandipan’s solo album ‘Ay Praner Utsabe’ in 2006.
