Prices of essentials still high in city markets

Prices of some essential commodities have maintained soaring trend in the city kitchen markets on Friday.

Price of different winter vegetables, rice, flour, palm oil, lentil, eggs and some fishes remained high on the day.

Prices of seven foods item have increased and eight other declined in the capital on the day, according to a data of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).

Price of flour, palm oil, lentil, imported onion, eggs, cardamom and cumin price increased this week, it said. 

Despite ample supply of winter vegetables like bean, cauliflower, cabbage, radish and some other vegetables, prices were higher in the kitchen market.

Price of loose flour increased by 1.05 percent in a week and it was sold at Tk 46-50 per kg, palm oil price increased by 1.10 percent in a week and it was sold at Tk 135-140 per kg, large grain lentil price increased by 10.81 percent in a week and it was sold at Tk 100-105 per kg and medium grain lentil price increased by 4.88 percent in a week and it was sold at Tk 105-110 per kg, according to TCB.

Imported onion price increased by 5.56 percent in a week and it was sold at Tk 45-50 per kg, cumin price increased by 2.78 percent and it was sold at Tk 320-420 per kg, cardamom price increased by 2.04 percent and it was sold at Tk 2,000-3000 per kg and farm egg price increased by 1.39 percent and it was sold at Tk 34-38 per four pieces, according to TCB.

Price of broiler chicken has declined to Tk 170 per kg from the previous week price TK 180-185 per kg.

Sonali chicken price has declined to Tk 270 per kg from the previous week price Tk 280 per kg.

Price of tomato was Tk 40-50 per kg while carrot was sold at Tk 30-40per kg, radish was sold at Tk 30-40 per kg and turnip was sold at Tk 30-40 per kg. Prices of both the vegetables remained.

Price of cauliflower has increased to Tk 40-45 per piece from previous week price Tk 30-35 and price of bean increased to Tk 60-70 per kg from previous week price Tk 40-50 per kg.

Yardlong bean was Tk 50-70 per kg, potato was sold at Tk 22-25 per kg, red amaranth was Tk 10-15 per bunch and spinach was Tk 15-20 per bunch.
