The body of a 13-month-old toddler was finally recovered from the Dhaleshwari River in Narayanganj on Tuesday morning where a boat capsized recently.
With the recovery of Tasfia’s body, rescue workers found all the 10 missing passengers.
Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, told the Daily Sun that with the recovery, they announced an end to the rescue operation around 11:00 am.
At about 8:30 am on January 5, the boat carrying about 40 passengers sank after being hit with ‘MV Farhan-6’.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority filed a case against driver, master and ‘sukani’ of the launch at Fatullah Police Station on January 6.
Police arrested the trio -- Kamrul Hasan, Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan and Jasim Molla -- and seized the launch on the day.
