Newly-elected chairman, 8 others sued

PANCHAGARH: A case has been filed against Panchagarh’s Debiganj upazila newly-elected chairman and eight others.

Mamunur Rashid, presiding officer of Binoypur Government Primary School centre in the upazila, lodged the case on Monday bringing allegation of violating election code of conduct, trying to snatch away ballot box from centre and threatening the administration officials.

According to the case statement, Ajgar Ali, newly-elected chairman of no 8 Dandapal union parishad, and his supporters entered the voting centre defying police personnel and beat up the administration officials.

Ajgar Ali also used abusive words to the administration officials after he won the election. A video of the incident went viral in social media.

Debiganj Police Station OC Jamal Hossain said legal action will be taken after investigation.

But Ajgar Ali denied the allegation bringing against him.
