Man gets life for killing wife in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: A Chattogram court awarded life imprisonment to a person for killing his wife in the city in 2016.

Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman handed down the verdict on Monday, said Chattogram Metropolitan Public Prosecutor (PP) Md Fakhruddin Chowdhury.

The court also fined Tk 50,000 and one more year imprisonment, in default, to the accused, he said.

The convict was identified as Alek Shah, 37, son of Shantu Mia of Kendua area in Netrokona district.

According to deposition of the case, Alek Shah married Asha Moni, a garments worker, in 2008.

They with their daughter used to live at Ambia Building of WASA Goli in the city’s EPZ area.

Alek strangled Asha over family feud on October 25 in 2016. A case was filed with the EPZ Police Station concerned in this connection.
