Bodies of five missing passengers of the trawler, which sank in the Dhaleshwari River in Narayanganj four days ago, were recovered on Sunday morning.

Four of the bodies were identified as Jesmin Akhter, 35 and her daughter Tasmin, 15, and Sabbir Ahmed, 18, a college student of Boktaboli area and Josna Akhter, 35.

The bodies were handed over to their family members. Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the news to the Daily Sun.

“The bodies were found floating in the river. Our rescue operation will continue until we find the last missing person,” the officer said.

Earlier on January 5, the trawler with at least 40 passengers sank in the river when the launch ‘MV Farhan-6’ hit it.

At least nine passengers went missing in the accident. The launch belonged to a Member of Parliament (MP).
