Bangladesh has recorded one death from Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,099 and the death rate stands at 1.76 percent. The lone deceased was a woman, aged between 61 and 70.
DGHS data shows that the current positivity rate is 5.79 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.67 percent.
A total of 154 people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 1,550,688.
A total of 19,275 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours. Of the new 1,116 cases, Dhaka logged the highest - 943, while Chittagong recorded 123 cases, Sylhet 17, Rajshahi 10, Khulna eight, Mymensingh seven, and Barisal five cases.
The country’s maiden cases were reported on March 8 in 2020 and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
