Film Artistes Association elections on Jan 28

Ilias Kanchan, Nipun to vie for president, secy from the same panel

The 17th edition of the Bangladesh Film Artiste Association (BFAA) elections will be held on January 28.  This was disclosed at the general meeting the organisation held on Friday at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).

Noted film actor Ilias Kanchan and popular actress Nasrin Akter Nipun will contest for the positions of the president and general secretary respectively in the polls. They are competing from the same panel.

While, Misa Sawdagar and Zayed Khan, who served as the president and general secretary respectively in the previous term, will lead their panel this year too. 

 Pirzada Harun will be the election commissioner. Sohanur Rahman Sohan will serve as the chair of the appeal board.

Ilias Kanchan is a popular actor and social activist. He appeared in more than 350 films during the 1980s and 1990s. He earned Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the film ‘Parineeta’ (1986). He is a road safety activist in Bangladesh. He was awarded Ekushey Padak for his social service.  

 Nasrin Akter Nipun, popularly known as Nipun Akter, is a film actress. She has won the National Film Award twice. Nipun entered into the film industry in 2006.
