Four Rohingya ‘terrorists’ arrested in Bandarban

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four alleged Rohingya terrorists along with several firearms from a deep forest in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban district early Friday.

The arrestees are Mohammad Noor, 32, Nazimullah, 34, Md Aman Ullah, 23, and Md Khairul Amin, 19.

Acting on a tip-off that Rohingya terrorists were staying in a hill of the forest under Ghumdhum union, a team of RAB -15 conducted a drive there in the early hours, said RAB battalion Deputy Commander Tanvir Hasan.

During the drive, the elite force members found two of the group members carrying firewood and arrested all of them as they tried to escape.

Later, two pistols, six locally-made firearms and several rounds of bullets were recovered from a wooden bag in their possession.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Senior Assistant Director) of RAB-15 Md Abu Salam Chowdhury said legal action was being taken against the four arrestees.
