BCB South Zone will be the favourites to clinch the title of the ninth edition of the Bangladesh Cricket League after Walton Central Zone finished the fourth day’s play at 26-3 in their second innings in Mirpur on Wednesday.
Earlier, resuming an overnight score of 43-1, South Zone were bowled out for 268 runs in their second innings to set Central Zone a target of 218 runs to win the meet.
Rishad missed out on his ton by just one run as he made 99 off 136 balls while Nasum scored 41 runs that helped their side post a challenging total against Central Zone.
Central Zone pacer Abu Hider finished with 5-78.
Nasum (0-2) then took wickets while Farhad Reza removed in-form opener Mohammad Mithun to leave Central Zone struggling at stumps of the penultimate day’s play.
Soumya Sarkar and Salman Hossain remained unbeaten on eight and five runs respectively at the close of day’ play.
