DMP arrests 89 for taking, selling drug

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 89 people on charges of selling and taking drugs during the ongoing anti-narcotics drives in the capital in the last 24 hours until 6am on Wednesday.

According to a DMP statement issued on Wednesday, as part of the campaign, the police raided different areas under various police stations and detained 89 drug abusers and recovered drugs from their possession, reports BSS.

During the campaign, police seized 392 grams and 140 puria (small packet) of heroin, 42.425 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 20,643 pieces of yaba tablets, nine bottles of phensidyle and 15 litres of local liquor from them, it said.

Police filed 61 cases in this connection under the Narcotics Control Act.
