Atiq inspects cleanliness activities

Popular News

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Wednesday morning inspected the cleanliness activities during a sudden visit in the capital’s Mirpur area.

During his visit to Shah Ali Bagh area, the DNCC Mayor found that different lanes and sub-lanes have been occupied by illegal encroachers.

As the mayor asked for an explanation, the Conservancy Inspector said that they had served several notices to the house owners and the shopkeepers but unfortunately they paid no heed.

Later, the DNCC Mayor directed Zonal Executive Officer of Zone-4 and Executive Magistrate Abed Ali to take legal steps against the unruly people.

In a live programme on the DNCC Facebook page, Atiqul said, “I came here to inspect the activities of my workers in the area. During the visit, I have found businessmen are using roads and footpaths while some house owners have kept construction materials blocking the passage of pedestrians.”

He also said that DNCC would not allow such activities anymore.

“We have constructed the roads and footpaths for movement of pedestrians, not for doing business or keeping construction materials. We will take legal action against them without any prior notice,” he said.
