Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed on Tuesday inspected the construction work on railway bridge over the Madhumati River in Lohagarh of Narail.
During the visit, he was accompanied by Maj Gen FM Zahid Hossain, chief coordinator of the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project, Maj Gen Md Nurul Anwar, GOC 55 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Jashore Area and journalists.
The China Railway Engineering Company is working as a contractor for the project, funded by the Exim Bank of China under the government’s G2G project. Bangladesh Army is acting as project supervisor and consultant of the project.
The rail link of the capital with the south western districts of the country is one of the connectivity projects of the government. Under the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project, nine districts in the south-western part of the country will be directly connected to the capital through a 172 km railway line.
