Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDCL) is going to spend around Tk 3 billion for implementing the underground power network.
DPDC has installed two 11 KV Ring Main Units (RMU) on the premises of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council on Saturday.
DPDC Managing Director Engineer Bikash Dewan inaugurated the installation ceremony on Saturday. The existing overhead power distribution line from Bangabhaban to Jahangirgate and from Gabtali to Azimpur will be converted into an underground line under the project titled “Power Distribution System Development Project under DPDC Area” to provide more reliable and uninterrupted power supply to the residents of Dhaka city.
As part of this work, Kiosk Transformer, Ring Main Unit (RMU) and Low Tension Distribution Box (LTDB) will be installed on both sides of the main road of 19 km from Bangabhaban to Jahangirgate and 10 km from Gabtali to Azimpur to convert the overhead distribution network into an underground distribution network.
In the first phase of the project, cables will be laid on both sides of the road from Jahangirgate to Farmgate.
22 RMU, 19 LTDB and 4 Kiosk transformers will be installed from Jahangirgate to Farmgate.
DPDC's Executive Director, Chief Engineer and Project Director along with other officials were present on the occasion.
