11 dengue patients hospitalised

A total of 11 dengue patients were hospitalised while no new patient died in the last 24 hours all over the country until Monday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of them, seven are receiving treatment in the capital and four others are undergoing treatment outside the city.

The DGHS said 1,146 dengue patients have been hospitalised this month, 3,567 were hospitalised in November, 5,458 in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

A total of 12 dengue patients died in July, 34 in August, 23 in September, 22 in October, 7 in November and six deaths have been reported this month, the health directorate added. A total of 51 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 33 outside the city, it said.

As many as 104 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year. But unofficial sources from different hospitals said around 125 people have died.

A total of 28,368 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country from January until December 27.

So far, 28,180 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery, the DGHS report said.
