Alongside maintaining excellence in social and environmental areas, Bangladesh RMG industry is increasingly focusing on product diversification and up-scaling business capabilities, said BGMEA president Faruque Hassan.
“Bangladesh has huge opportunity and we have prioritised few areas to build capacity of the industry, particularly innovation, product and fiber diversification, and technology up-gradation will be our focus in coming years. Foreign investments would be a great way to address all these priority issues,” he said He was speaking at the Showcase Bangladesh and Investment Summit 2021 as guest of honor on December 23, says a release.
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Better Bangladesh Foundation organized the summit to promote trade and investment. Planning Minister MA Mannan attended the programme as the chief guest while Executive Chairman of BIDA Sirazul Islam was present as special guest. Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh Naoki Ito, Charge d’ Affairs of the Embassy of European Union Jeremy Opritesco, Acting High Commissioner of Australia to Bangladesh Nardia Simpson, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh Prof Sudharshan Seneviratne attended the event as guests of honor, which was presided over by BBF Chairman Masud A Khan. In his address BGMEA president Faruque Hassan said, “For the transformation to a high end industry, we do also need specialized investments at this moment, for example in product category like Shirting Fabric, Laces, Hooks, etc.”
“Challenges were, are and will be for Bangladesh but our hope are high that Bangladesh will be able continue to its indomitable march forward where industrial sector will play role of a key driver,” he added.
