At least three people were killed and more than five injured as a train smashed a bus in Gate No-1 area of Narayanganj city on Sunday evening.
The identities of the deceased and the injured could not be known immediately.
Witnesses said a train from Dhaka rammed into a bus of Ananda Paribahan while it was crossing the rail gate.
“Two passengers of the bus died on the spot,” says a spot account of the incident.
Another passenger died on way to a local hospital, a witness said.
On information, firefighters and police rushed to the spot and began a rescue operation.
Mohammad Sumon, duty officer at Narayanganj Fire Station, told the Daily Sun that three people died and four were injured in the train-bus collision.
Shah Jaman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, told the Daily Sun that a bus got collided with the train on the level crossing when it was entering Narayanganj Central Railway Station.
Police and firefighters recovered two bodies and rescued three to four injured people, he said.
