RANGPUR: Members of Detective Branch (DB) of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested two presumed drug traders with two kilograms of hemp (ganja from the Check Post area in the metropolis on Friday night.

The arrested were identified as Md. Rubel Islam, 21, of Kulaghat village and Md. Arif Hossain, 24, of Khonchabari Nazrultari village in Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat district.

"On a tip-off, a team of the DB police led by Inspector Saleh Ahmed Pathan, conducted a raid in the area and arrested the duo with the ganja," a press release issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB and Media) of RpMP Md. Sajjad Hossain said Saturday.

 

"After filing a case in this connection against the arrested people under the Narcotics Control Act 2018, the DB police handed them over to Kotwali Police Station of RpMP," the release added.
