Bangladesh national men’s volleyball team made a winning start in the ongoing Bangabandhu Asian Central Zone Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup as they defeated Nepal by 3-0 sets in their opening match at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh national women’s volleyball team suffered a 0-3 sets defeat to Kyrgyzstan in their opening match of the Bangamata Asian Central Zone Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup at the same venue on the same day.

Nepal and Uzbekistan women’s teams clinched victories in their respective opening day matches against Sri Lanka and Maldives respectively.

A total of six countries are taking part in the Bangamata Asian Central Zone Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup while five countries are taking part in the Bangabandhu Asian Central Zone Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, MP earlier inaugurated the tournaments as the chief guest during an opening ceremony on Thursday.
