10 firms fined for river pollution

The Department of Environment (DoE) carried out several drives against occupation and pollution of Bangshi River in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Monitoring and Enforcement unit of the DoE and its Dhaka district office conducted mobile courts and fined various organisations, said a press release. 

Riya Enterprise, Ashiya Enterprise, Khaleque Enterprise, Rahman Enterprise, Mamun Enterprise, Ali Enterprise, Gazi Enterprise, Akota Enterprise, and Mamun Enterprise were fined Tk 50,000 each.

The DoE also fined Kalam Fashion and Wash Tk 80,000 for the similar offence.

Executive Magistrate Md Abu Hasan led the drive.
