10 injured as BNP factions clash in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: At least 10 activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were injured in a factional clash at an activists’ conference of Fatikchhari upazila unit at the City BNP office premises in the city's Kazir Dewri area on Tuesday.

Sources said the two groups, led by BNP Chattogram north district convening committee members Sarwar Alamgir and Azim Ullah Bahar, locked in an altercation during the conference over invitation.

At one stage, followers of the both groups chased each other and pelted brickbats resulting in a clash.

The clash left at least 10 activists of the both groups injured. The injured were sent to different hospitals for medication, sources said.

Assistant Commissioner (AC-Kotwali Zone) Md Mujahidul Islam of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) said that it was an internal clash of the party.

No complaint was lodged in this connection, he said.
