After daybreak, the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy will resume with the knockout phase today at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the capital.

In the day’s semifinals of the tournament, South Korea will take on Pakistan in the first semifinal at 3:30pm while India will play against Japan in the second semifinal at 6:00pm.

India and South Korea, who were unbeaten in the round-robin group stage, ranked first and second in the points table. India earned 10 points from three wins and a draw while South Korea earned 6 points from a win and three draws.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and Japan earned 5 points from a win, two draws and one defeat each, but Pakistan ranked third due to a better goal difference (+2) than Japan (-1).

 The hosts Bangladesh, who took part in the tournament for the first time, finished bottom of the five-nation campaign. They lost to India by 0-9 goals, South Korea by 2-3 goals, Japan by 0-5 goals and Pakistan by 2-6 goals in the group matches.

Meanwhile, the final and the third-place decider will take place on Wednesday at the same venue.
