The Fifth National Sculpture Exhibition is underway at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).   

A total of 114 artworks from 107 artists are being showcased at the exhibition, according to the organisers.

Besides, 16 artworks by eminent sculptors of the country, including Hamiduzzaman Khan, Alak Roy, Shamim Sikder and Ivy Zaman are on display at the show. Works by late renowned sculptors, like Abdur Razzak, Anwar Jahan, Nitun Kundu, Syed Abdullah Khalid and Ferdousi Priyabhashini are also being displayed at the event.

The exhibition will remain open for all every day from 11am to 8pm till December 28.

Earlier, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at National Art Gallery of the academy on November 29.

Cultural Affairs Ministry Secretary Md. Abul Monsur, sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan, artist Alak Roy attended the inaugural ceremony as special guests with BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky in the chair.

A Liberation War corner, displaying different artworks depicting the turbulent days of 1971, has also been set up at the venue marking the golden jubilee of the country’s independence. 

Encouraging the practice of sculpture-making and development of the art form, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has organised the fifth edition of the ‘National Sculpture Exhibition.

The exhibition, which was first organised back in 1976 and then in 1983 and 2014 after a hiatus of 31 years, is returning after three years as the last edition was organised back in 2018.
