Former MP Chowdhury Akmal Ibne Yousuf dies

Ex-BNP lawmaker Chowdhury Akmal Ibne Yousuf passed away on early Sunday. He was 74.

He breathed his last around 12:30 am on the day at a private hospital in the capital.

Akmal, also former organising secretary (Dhaka division) of BNP, was suffering from cardiac problems and other old age complications.

He left behind his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

He was laid to eternal rest at their family graveyard in Moyez Manjil in Faridpur on Sunday following his namaz-e-janaza at Moyez Uddin High School.

Chowdhury Akmal Ibne Yusuf was elected as a Member of Parliament in the Faridpur-4 constituency by-election in 2001.

He was born in a zamindar family. His grandfather was Chowdhury Moyez Uddin Biswas. His father Yusuf Ali Chowdhury (Mohan Mia) was a Muslim League leader during the British rule.

Akmal’s brother Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf was a former minister of BNP.
