Defending champions and the hosts Bangladesh set for SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship final against India after crushing Sri Lanka by 12-0 goals in their fourth and last group match at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sepoy Mustofa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur of Dhaka on Sunday.

In the goal-fest match, Shahada Akter Ripa and Afeida Khandakar scored a hat-trick each. Ripa completed her hat-trick scoring four goals in the 2nd, 19th, 49th, and 87th minutes while Afeida scored three in the 54th, 70th and 83rd minutes. Ritu Porna Chakma scored twice in the 7th and 43rd minutes while Akhi Khatun scored in the 47th minute, Anuching Mogini scored in the 79th minute and Unnoti Khatun scored in the 85th minute.

Bangladesh, who were unbeaten in the round-robin group stage and kept the clean sheets in all matches, earned 10 points from three wins and one draw while India earned 9 points from three wins and one defeat.

The defending champions played a goalless draw against Nepal in the first match but bounced back with a 6-0 goals win over Bhutan. They beat India by 1-0 goal in their third match.

On the other hand, India beat Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals, Bhutan by 3-0 goals and Nepal by 1-0 goal in their last match earlier this day. Forward Priyangka Devi Naorem scored the match-winner with a left-footed grounder, off a cut back from Sumati Kumari after the barren first half in the 67th minute.

However, Bangladesh-India will lock horns in the high-voltage final on Wednesday at the same venue.

Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka were eliminated from the competition. Nepal earned 7 points from two wins, one draw and one defeat, Bhutan earned 3 points from one win and three defeats while all losers Sri Lanka failed to open an account.
