A total of 17 patients with dengue were hospitalised in 24 hours until 8:00am on Thursday, raising the cases of the disease to 863 this month. 

The number of daily dengue cases has remained below 50 for around a week.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), no new death from the disease was recorded in the country during the time mentioned above. Of the new patients, 12 were admitted to hospitals in the capital and 5 patients outside the city.

A total of 28,085 dengue patients have been hospitalised across the country since January while 101 people died of the disease. However, unofficial sources at different hospitals said around 121 deaths have been caused by the disease.

The DGHS said of the total number, 863 patients were hospitalised in the current month, 3,567 in November, 5,458 in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January.

Some 12 dengue patients died in July, 34 in August, 23 in September, 22 in October, 7 in November and three in the current month, the health directorate added.

A total of 99 patients are now receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 61 outside the city, it said.

So far, 27,824 dengue patients have been released from hospitals after recovery, the DGHS report said.
