Bangladesh Navy on Tuesday night rescued 18 crew members alive from a boat named ‘FV Madina’ stranded in the sea beside Gandamara coal-fired power plant near Banshkhali due to engine failure.

The rescued are: A Mannan (Manager), Md Siddique Majhi, Jamal Uddin, Alataf Hossain, A Rahim, Md Ledu, Talal Ahmed, Rezaul Karim, Syed Mia, Jamir Uddin, Janu Mia, Tarek, A Malek, Md Badsha, Md Enam, Selim, Korban Ali and Waz Uddin. All of them are residents of Matarbari area.

The boat with 18 crew members left Chattogram for Matarbari. On the way, the engine of the boat broke down and got stuck in midnight due to bad weather. Navy personnel on patrol later rescued the crew.

The ship’s crew provided first aid and necessary food and water to the rescued crew on an emergency basis.
