US Navy ship joins ‘CARAT-2021’

A US Navy warship ‘USS TULSA’ has arrived in Chattogram to take part in the joint exercise titled ‘Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT)- 2021’ to be conducted between the Bangladesh Navy and the US Navy.

On arrival at Chattogram Port Jetty on Wednesday, Captain Masudul Karim Siddiqui, Chief Staff Officer, Chittagong Naval Area, welcomed the visiting ship. On the eve of the ship’s arrival at Chattogram, a well-equipped naval band welcomed the ship with traditional musical instruments.

During the stay in Bangladesh, captain of the ship Commander William Dvorak will pay courtesy calls on Regional Commander of Chittagong Naval Area Rear Admiral M Mozammel Haque, Commander BN Fleet Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad and US Ambassador to Bangladesh.

In addition, the US Ambassador and the captain of the ship will also take part in the closing ceremony of the exercise at the School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics (SMWT) at BNS Isakhan in Chattogram today.

US Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) USS TULSA, MH-60S Helicopter and Bangladesh Navy Ship Somudra Avijan, Prottoy, Durjoy and Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), specialised unit (SWADS) and Naval Aviation are participating in the joint exercise started from December 4.
